CCDT Dec. Hop: "Home for the Holidays"

Hello Friends!

Welcome to another month of the CCDT Blog Hop. If you come from Sandy Mott's blog, you have come to the right place. Otherwise keep hopping away!

In this post, the challenge theme this month is "Home for the Holidays" set out by Sandy Mott.

At first I was a bit stumped. I kept asking myself what does this mean? A card, a decoration, an invitation? The list goes on and on. Then I told myself, just go with the flow, and whatever the outcome is, it will be a great one!

For my "Home for the Holidays", because of my new house, we now can hold a sit down dinner in one area instead of scattering all over the house.

I decided to create seating arrangements theme for my table and will be placing this on their dinner plate.

I used the tree from Santa's Sleigh thinlits, and die cut them out 6x in real red cs, and score down the middle.

Then, I removed the tree stump, fold and crease well with a bone folder before gluing the sides together. NOTE: I did not glue the whole side, just the middle.

Once the tree is formed, I took my multipurpose glue, and generously add glue to each of the tree stem. Then I poured dazzling diamonds on the glue so that it looks like snow on the tree. This is optional: I die cut the star 4x, score, and glue it together like I have with the trees. Set this aside to dry before attaching it to a box.

For the box, I created this box using my e-cutter. The box measures 2" x 2" square, and I added a tab in the front so that the recipient can open the box. The box is cut in crumb cake cs and covered up with cookie cutter dp.

When the box is assembled, hot glue the tree to the box, and hot glue the star to the tree. I then die cut and attach the reindeer (which is cut in gold foil). Here you can add the name of the person. The box inside holds a Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Candy.

This is an after thought when I finished creating this piece, I later thought you can make this as your Christmas Advent Calendar and it also can be a tree decoration.

Merry Mice!

Hello Friends!

I'm breathing for air again! I don't know how everyone does it but keeping an updated blog is tough!

The word is out, yes, I have a laser cutter, and I have been testing the waters! I had a huge order of bone folders to engrave, and this what it looks like. If you want one, just email me. Cost is $11.10 for locals, and if live afar, then we will discuss the shipping. Sorry, Canada only but if you are in the US, contact my friend Tamra Davis.

Next up, Christmas Cards ... I knew that I should not have procrastinated. Now I am backlogged! I have not yet played with the Merry Mice and this was a perfect opportunity. I have an order for Christmas Cards to get to. Yeah for my business!

I was trying to work it so that I don't have to fussy cut, and use my laser cutter to do all the work.

In order for my laser cutter to do all the fussy cutting, I stamped, traced, scanned, and converted to an image (just the outline). Tweaked it so that it cuts around his body, tail and hat.

I cut a template (the negative), and lined it up with my MISTI and the rest was history. I cannot believe how much time it saved me. It was like ink, stamp, remove; ink, stamp, remove; ink, stamp, remove. You get it? The Merry Mice lined up every time I stamped.

When all the Merry Mice were cut, then it was an assembly line to color them all in.

The coloring mediums I used are the Zig Markers (non-Stampin' Up!) with the aquapainters, and I wanted the Merry Mice to be bright and colorful. Then I added a little bit of Wink of Stella clear to his hat (hard to see) but it is beautiful in Real Life.

I still love this Northern Star embossing folder which is retired and I cannot depart from. This is still my all time favourite embossing folder for Christmas.

Here is a complete card of the Merry Mice. Base card is 11" x 4-1/4", score at 5-1/2" in Whisper White Thick cs. The mat is cut at 5" x 3 3/4" Pacific Point cs, and my focal point is cut at 4 7/8" x 3 5/8" in Whisper White cs.

The focal mat was placed on the MISTI so that the stars in the background are stamped before I ran through the embossing folder. Then I applied the cut and colored image to the focal point with mono glue.

To add a little contrast, I added sequins to the card.

CCDT November Hop - Never Ending Cube

Hello Friends!

Welcome to another CCDT blog hop.

Firstly, I welcome another team member who just recently joined the CCDT. She is another amazing designer who loves to use her e-cutter and Stampin' Up! Please welcome Kate Creasey! You can locate her blog by clicking on the image below.

This month's hop is the Never Ending Cube. It is like a never ending card but it is in a cube format. What I love about this cube is that it is large enough for a great home decor. Each month you can change the cube to show something different.

When building this 3D, I had really think what I wanted on there.

I created my cube to be a memory keeper. I used the By the Shore Suite designer series paper, as it ties in with pictures of my niece and nephew fishing. I added extra mats on the faces to show you that you don't have to use the little squares. You can use pictures up to 4".

The cube measures 4 x 4.

I didn't have enough pictures so I made some decorated panels using the stamp set called Seaside Shore.

This part was left intentionally incase my sister wish to write a journal on the squares.

I love creating mosaic scrapbook. Here I wanted to show you that it is ok to cut your pictures up. Most people have trouble with it. It is actually really worth it!

Without further adieu, click on the icon below, and hop on over to our talented gal, Lynn Streifert!
