Sorry!

Hello Friends!

So sorry for the lack of post here! It is difficult when you are juggling between getting your house cleaned for open houses, working full-time and keeping a business!

Today is supposed to be a work day in the studio and updating my blog. I just learned from my realtor that she scheduled an unexpected open house for the day. So this morning, I am scrambling to get a box of Stampin' Up! materials so that I can work with.

I am writing in real time and sitting at my parent's place right now. I am learning fast that I have to invest in a laptop so that can I work anytime, anywhere. I am using my niece's laptop, and bless her heart for lending it to me.

I am going to keep this short as my time is limited.

I am still loving this butterfly.

Here is one I made with butterfly thinlits die and the bold butterfly framelits die. As most of you know me, I don't like flat cards but love dimensions added to the card. Here, I glued down the body and popped the wings up.

The "Happy Birthday" word is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set. I stamped the word in White Craft Ink, embossed with white embossing powder and heat set. Then I took the hello honey marker to color in the words and heat set it again.

Imagine the Possibilities

Hello Friends!

Most of you who follows me on FB knows that I am in the process of selling my current home, and moving to a large home with a larger stamp room so I have been cleaning away and neglecting the blog. Well you know how it goes!

I got tired of cleaning, and decided that today is the day to play.

I have been wanting to play with mixed media and this was a perfect time for some home decor.

I had purchased a small canvas to play as I really don't know much about mixed media other than adding layers upon layers. It was small and so I didn't have to worry about wastage.

The canvas was white so I added a layer of gesso and let it dry. Then brayered on a color of Flirty Flamingo ink on, with a dabble of Emerald Envy, dabble of Dapper Denim.
Then I used the heart mask (retired) and molding paste. When the mold paste dried, I went over it with gesso paint to bring out the white hearts.

When the hearts dried, I added another layer of gesso on the whole canvas. To be honest, this was not the achievement that I looking for, and made some mistakes along the way. The classic inks kept blending together, and had to make sure it was dried before adding more layers. The colors were too intense so, add kept adding gesso until got "look" I wanted.

I then added stamped images using the Swirly Bird stamp set and just randomly stamped on the canvas. Let that dry, and then I wanted to add the word "home" but did not have any words with home so I settled with "Imagine the Possibilities" from the Word Play stamp set. Stamped the word using black archival ink and let that dry.

For the butterflies, I die cut the butterflies out with basic black cardstock, and covered the area with mod podge, and waited for this to dry.

As I didn't like the black, and then went over with a finger dauber using the dapper denim classic ink and flirty flamingo classic ink. I then adhere the butterflies together and added to the canvas.

Anyways back to cleaning. Love to hear from you, especially from those who do a lot of mixed medias!

Just A Note

Hello Friends!

A glorious beautiful Thursday! Welcome to my post.

I share with you today another card for the onStage2016 Stampers' Display Board. I hope you are not getting bored yet with the butterflies because this is a set of 4 cards. If you need to know how the butterfly is made go to this post.

Stampin' Up! butterfly thinlits are so gorgeous and detailed, who doesn't love them!

You are probably wondering how I got the background butterflies onto the whisper white cardstock? Because we don't have a detailed small butterfly stamp, why not create your own?

To create your own small butterfly stamp, I die cut the small butterfly out of fun foam (you can get it at your local craft store or the $ store), and adhere the fun foam to the acrylic block. You can use wood block too if you wish to keep it for future use.

I did repetitive stamping (without re-inking again) on the whisper white cardstock with Delightful Dijon ink which is cut at 2-7/8" x 5-1/2" and just moving my block at various angles.

Then I adhere the whisper white cardstock onto a 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" basic black cardstock, and then adhere the panel to the base card at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" of Delightful Dijon cardstock.

I stamped Just a Note to remnants basic black cardstock with white craft ink and white embossing powder and heat set it. Once set, then trim down and add dimensional to the back and on the base card.

Congratulations!

Hello Friends!

During the Creative Circle Design Team blog hop, I introduced the color of Delightful Dijon, Bold Butterfly and the Butterfly Thinlits.

The technique is the same only this time, I added the small butterfly on top of the larger butterfly, gluing just only the body, and added Rhinestone Jewels.

To start,

  1. Cut (1) 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" of Thick Whisper White cs, and score at 4-1/4".
  2. Cut (1) 5-1/2" x 3/4" of Delightful Dijon cs, and adhere to right side of the base card.
  3. Cut (1) 5-1/2" x 1/2" of Basic Black cs, I used the Birthday Celebration stamp set and stamp Congratulations on the Basic Black with White Craft ink, and emboss with White Embossing Powder. Heat set. Then adhere it next to the Delightful Dijon cs.
  4. Add your butterfly on a slant.
Tip: I would mass produce this card because it is just so elegant and beautiful! As well, Stampin' Up! does not carry crystal effect anymore, so as an alternative use the fine tip glue to make the shine or wink of stella.

May 2016 - Creative Circle Blog Hop! + Designer Team Calls

Hello Friends!
Welcome back to another Creative Circle Design Team blog hop.  If you are already going through the hop, you should have just arrived here from visiting my incredibly talented friend, Sandy Mott. When you leave here you will travel on to visit my amazing friend, Fran Sabad, who is also a designer for Karen Burniston. This hop we are featuring Delightful Dijon color from the 2015-2017 in Color. You will be amazed at all the fabulous projects created by the Design Team so be sure to go all the way through the blog hop!

This card was part of my Demonstrators' Display Sample card while I was in Salt Lake City for the onStage Live!

The color was quite challenging for me as if was more of a mustard color, so I challenged my CCDT to create a card using the Delightful Dijon.

I used Bold Butterflies as well as the Butterfly Thinlits Die.

To create this card:

Cut (1) 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Whisper White Thick cs, and score at 4-1/4".
Cut (1) 4-1/4" x 4-1/2" Delightful Dijon cs, and adhere to the base card at a slant to the right. Trim off excess.
Cut (1) 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" Whisper Whit cs, and adhere to the base card and a slant to the left. Trim off excess.

To create the butterflies:
Cut (1) large bold butterfly and (1) small bold butterfly in Watercolor Paper.
Cut (1) large outline butterfly and (1) small outline butterfly in basic black cs.

Adhere the outlines to the watercolor with multipurpose glue. Take your aqua painter pen and add Delightful Dijon on the edges. Once this done, then pull the color towards the centre giving you a lighter delightful dijon color. You can repeat the process and adding as dark as you want it to be. When you have reached your desired color, apply crystal effect on evenly and let it dry. Adhere to the base card, and fluff the wings up.

I stamped the sentiment "I'm here for you." from the You've Got This stamp set. Give it a try! Very beautiful card. Now hop on over to Fran 's blog.

2. Liz (that's me!)

3. Fran

Global Design Project #034 | Sketch Challenge

Hello Friends!

Today, I am playing with a sketch called Global Design Project, #GDP034, a sketch by Teneale Williams. She is another demonstrator who I admire as well.

Here is my take on the card. I used the new embossing folder called Floral Affection, and added the sentiment "... and I appreciate everything you do" from the Marquee Messages stamp set. These are available on June 1.

If you are local (Vancouver, BC), swing by my house. We are having a hi-tea party to kick off the new catalogue. I will showing what is new and you get to play with some new product.

Here is a close up - using my macro lens. You can see it is not perfect, but from a distance view, it is barely visible to a naked eye. I colored each flowers with the 2016-2018 in colors. Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Sweet Sugarplum inks with aqua painter. I added the Basic Pearl to give the some elegant touches. I used the Dapper Denim, Peakaboo Peach and Whisper White cardstocks.

Gigantic Paper Flowers

Hello Friends!

Oh, gosh, I had such a wonderful time making these today, thanks to Erica Cerwin. She is an amazing designer!

If you want to know how she made this, click here. It takes (11) 8-1/2" x 11" cardstocks. I used 1 sheet of daffodil delight and cut them at 3" x 11" and used the fringe scissors to create the stemen and just overlapping the cardstock to make it fuller.
