Halloween & Fall Blog Hop

Hello Friends!

I am so pleased to join Tami White and her team "Stamp It Group" on this Halloween & Fall blog hop.

Halloween is not big in our family, especially when my boys are older now, and they don't care for it except for eating Halloween candies.

I decided to do a fall theme using the Merry Patterns which hosts can get when she/he hosts a $375 (Cdn) or $300 (US) workshop only available during October and November. I wanted to show you that the candles are not just for Christmas, but you can use this during the fall season with fall colors.

I love presenting my cards in some kind of holder, in which this case the pizza box in the holiday catalog on p. 44 (144645). The lid is exposed so that the recipient can see what is inside the box. It is also a great way to add a coffee gift card to thank those who you are thankful for.

I cut the oval with my e-cutter but if you don't have an e-cutter, just use your nesting oval #4. You will need to pass through the die cutting couple of times to cut through the thickness.

If you want a copy of the SVG file, just enter a comment below and I would be happy to give you an SVG template.

For the 3x3 cards, I used my e-cutter to do all the fussy cutting, and then stamped in archival black with the MISTI. From there, two step stamping with Tangerine Tango ink and Garden Green ink. Popped the candles on #3 nesting ovals, and then on #4 nesting ovals.

I die cut the small maple leafs and attached it to the bottom right of the card.

Oh, did you also know that we have a Blog Hop Give-a-away. You will have a chance to win the "Oh Happy Day Card Kit". The winner will be announced on October 21.

Accessories: Big Shot, Seasonal Layers Thinlits (143751). Oval Framelits, Mini Pizza Boxes (144645), Wink of Stella

Happy Birthday! x3

Hello Friends!

I needed to create a couple of birthday cards for my nephews and my sister.

I have not played with the pop up twist in a while, and wanted to be different. I wanted a WOW factor for my nephews and my sister (who is also a cardmaker) so I decided to work on a Happy Birthday insert to work with the pop up twist. After fiddling around with the measurements, I finally got it to work.

Card 1:
Nathan turned 19. His goals are to become a certified mechanic. He has been dwindling on beefing his car, so I made this card using the Lift Me Up set. This set reminds me of GO FOR YOUR DREAMs.
Here is the inside of the card.

Although there is some effort in fiddling around with the pop up twist to make sure that the elements are not creeping out the sides. I am constantly folding and positioning the hot air balloons.

I brought the Hot Air Balloons and clouds inside the card. Below, I inserted money so that he can purchase whatever he wants.

Stamps: Lift Me Up
Inks: Pacific Point
Papers: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Birthday Memories DP, Basic Black, Lemon Lime Twist, Lift Me Up Coordinating Dies
Accessories: Big Shot, Softly Falling EF, Mini Dimensionals, Regular Dimensionals, Large Numbers Framelits
Personal Files: e-Cutter, Happy Birthday Pop Up

Card 2:
Owen turned 16. I know he plays a lot of soccer still, so this card was perfect for him. I don't have any soccer stamp set so I was going through my stash of embossing folders and dies, and came up with my own background.

The soccer ball was remnants from the dies, so I just used a 2" circle punch to create the soccer ball. The grass was cut and tucked the soccer ball between the grass.

Inside also contains the Happy Birthday Pop Up, and then I printed soccer ball images and fussy cut them out. Behind the pattern paper also holds money so he too can buy whatever he wishes.

Stamps: Love Sparkles
Inks: Basic Black
Papers: Whisper White, Basic Black, Birthday Memories Suite DP, Old Olive
Accessories: Big Shot, 2" circle punch, Hexagon Die, Honeycomb EF
Personal Files: Soccer Ball, Grass, Happy Birthday Pop Up, e-Cutter

Card 3:
And then my wonderful sister! I won't mention how old she is. She just loves to cook and bake.

When I assembled the inside of the card, I realized that I should have done the background in a different color. Needless to say, still happy with results!

Instead of giving her money, I gave her 5 precut cards so that she can make her own Pop Up Twist for someone special.
Stamps: Birthday Delivery, Beautiful You,
Inks: Whisper White Craft
Papers: Merry Little Christmas DP, Basic Black, Whisper White, Birthday Memories Suit
Accessories: Big Shot, Happy Birthday Die, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin' Dimensionals

I hope you enjoyed this project. Live in Canada? Come shop with me as I provide these files to my clients, or cut for them as an added bonus.

SUO Demos/Designers Showcase Blog Hop

Hello Friends!

Welcome to SUO Demos/Designers Showcase Blog Hop!

What is SUO Demos/Designers Showcase you ask? SUO means Stampin' Up! Only. It means when you are creating a project you LOVE using Stampin' Up! products.

I have a closed FB group called SUO Demos/Designers Showcase, and everyone is welcome to this group if you LOVE using Stampin' Up! It is not just for demonstrators and it is open to the public. You can locate the link here.

You are going to love this! I gathered some demonstrators from around the world to hop with me. We are featuring anything from the 2017 Holiday Catalog, which you should have received from your local demonstrator. If you live in Canada, and don't have a current demonstrator, please email me at liz.holloway@gmail.com. I would be happy to send you one.

For my project, as I am working on my Thank You cards for my clients. I want to play with the new sets and sometimes need to bring out my retired products, so this post is on Old & New.

Sometimes it is necessary to play with retired products. Yes I too have my own collections that I cannot depart with.

Old: Clouds EF, Thanks Thinlits from Greetings

New: Flourishing Thinlits, Detailed Gate Thinlits, Seasonal Chums Stamp Set

Paper: Basic Black, Soft Sky, Color Theory DP, Tangerine Tango

Halloween is rolling around the corner and it is a great chance to play with the Seasonal Chums before it retires on January 3, 2018.

I love the front back variation, and decided to use only the front of the pumpkin. The pumpkin was colored and then fussy cut.

When you put it all together, it looks rather marvelous!!
I die cut:
  1. the detailed gate and trimmed it down to 4-1/4" w and glued it to the soft sky cs which is embossed withe retired cloud EF
  2. the flourishing thinlits in the color theory dp, and cut the flourishing die in 1/2 to get the maximum use
  3. the "thanks" is from the greeting framelits
It really helps when you have the brush tool to get all the detailed cut outs!

CCDT September Blog Hop "Upright Piano"

Welcome to the
Creative Circle Design Team blog hop!
This is a long post, so grab a cup of coffee, sit back & relax!
This month's hop is one of my signature 3D designs. It is an "Upright Piano" design!

It is designed to hold A2 cards and envelopes in the string compartment box.

The piano has a hinge cover that opens and closes to reveal the keyboard. The hinge cover is held with mini magnets to give some interactive fun, which can be left closed or opened. I showed two of the same picture without moving them to show you the cover.

Who doesn't want an Upright Piano to display! It is a perfect signature piece for any piano teachers or anyone who plays keyboard instrument. Size of the 3D Upright Piano measures 5-1/2 (w) x 3-3/4 (d) x 4" (h).

Did you know that this can coordinate with all the music sheets, background stamps and musical dies we have in the 2017 Holiday catalog? If you haven't seen it, shoot me an email.

I actually made two pianos because I am soooo in love with this piece. I wanted to show you how it can hold coordinating cards and/or as a display.

Piano 1: Is made from basic black cs and whisper white cs. When I think of music, I think black & white because of the music sheets.

I made "Thank You" cards to insert inside the Piano. It actually holds 5 cards and 5 envelopes. I used the music sheet DP as my background.

For the music bars, I stepped outside the box to show you that you can use the You Move Me thinlits dies. You will need 6 lines, but before you trim away, add two end bars to hold the lines together.

Add a treble clef on the left side from the musical instruments framelits. We didn't have any current "thank you", so I made myself a SVG file to cut with my e-cutter.

I gave away this piece to a special piano instructor. She is not my piano instructor but my workout trainer at the gym. I got to know her since I started going to the gym in March, 2017 and she is an awesome instructor. I wanted to show her my appreciation and getting me back into shape.

Piano 2: I turned my piano template to hold a small flowering box. I can't tell how beautiful this piece is using the Orchid Builder Bundles. It is so realistic and sitting on top of my piano.
The base is made from Tangerine Tango cs to create a terracotta look, and stamped all the covers using Hardwood stamp in Sahara Sand ink. To create a more vintage like - the edges are then sponged with Sahara Sand ink.
The holder has a white foam board that can be purchased at your local craft store. The foam board sits inside the box to raise the depth, and to hold my flowers in place. The base is then covered with sphagnum moss. As I love orchids, I created an orchid display for my piece which sits on top of my piano.
The stem is made from large gauge wire that is wrapped in green floral tape. I also cut small stem nodes to attach to the stem. The orchid flowers do not lay flat on the wire but on the nodes.

After stamping and die cutting the orchids, I sponged the edges with Rich Razzleberry and assemble the pieces together.

The leaves in the stamp set are not the leaves you see in the phalaenopsis orchids.
So I hand cut to create the rich bold green, and sponge the edges with Always Artichoke.

Anything but the Holidays!

Hello Friends!
am awed again being invited to join Janet Wakeland and other demos from around the world for this month's hop. The theme is: Anything but the Holidays!

What does that mean you ask? It means that we are showcasing the 2017 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog products on projects that have nothing to do with the Holidays! That means no Halloween, No Fall, No Thanksgiving, No Christmas, No Hannuakah, etc. ANYTHING BUT how we might expect to use them. This is a great challenge for each us as we show you a different way to use these stamps in a different version.

For my showcase, I am featuring the Detailed Gate Thinlits Dies that you see on the bottom left of the image.
This is my version of a wedding card that I will be attending in October. I placed a letter "C" in front of the gate representing their last name. The gate swings open allowing you to write your greetings.

The closure is held by (2) mini magnets to keep the gate shut. To keep in line with their color theme, I added the die cut "Congrats".

Click on the list below to see other demonstrators creations from around the world! I am at No. 14 of the list but before you move, I would love to hear from you!

Stamps: n/a

Papers: Glossy White, Night of Navy

Inks: Night of Navy, Whisper White craft, Tangerine Tango
